With the temperatures dropping, the frost is beginning to cling to the trees and envelope the landscape in a coat of white.

Winter crystals form and change each day as days light grows shorter in the waning month before the winter solstice. Along the river bank ice crystals form over the gravel bottom creating the transient forms that only exist for a short time. Now that the winters snow has begun and the temperatures have started the slide toward the negative degrees, I wait for the trees to fill with the winters coat.
