Ice Pattern Abstracts
The interior of Alaska is slowly turning to winter. It seems to be behind this year as the early snows have disappeared and temperatures have remained fairly mild. My adventures with the camera took me to an old favorite place now known as Tanana Lakes. The ice patterns have begun to form nicely.

Trees Abstract - Slow Shutter Speeds
Working with slow shutters speeds and panning the camera upward to create this soft look to the trees. Shutter speed was 1/6th of a second with an aperture at f:22. With the shutter too much slower the images does not create the look I wanted.

Steam rises from the river at -20 degrees coating the trees with a blanket of frost. I hiked along the rivers edge to this spot to make the image and had to work quickly with my fingers quickly numbing from the cold. The entire landscape in Fairbanks, Alaska is covered with the frost and snow giving it a winter wonderland feel.

Abstracts Sea Grass and Sand
More from my last day walking the beach and making abstract images of the sea grass washed up on the beach. This selection was photographed along the Crystal Cove Beach in Southern California.
The forms changed with each wave that could reach the stranded grass.
The warm air and cool ocean water was refreshing break from the cold arctic.

Sea Grass Abstracts
Sea grass that has washed ashore along the beach near Crystal Cove in So. California. I like the different forms the grass makes as the wave terminus recedes back leaving the strands of grass into fine forms.
