A short journey down the road today took me to another small town in rural America that needs to be photographed and preserved in time. I think of the history of the town and its people. Everything that is man made was made by someone, someones mother or father, someone loved there, loved there and dreamed there. And it is my small hope that the photographs that I make will some how preserve the dreams. Enjoy the new edition of my black and white fine art images.

A new selection of fine art black and white images of old barns, buildings and doors from North West Arkansas area. Driving the back roads leads to some of the most interesting small towns, old abandoned homes and barns. These small towns are Cave Springs, Sulpher Springs, Gentry, Siloam Springs and Hiwasse, Arkansas.

New black and white fine art images from north west Arkansas of barns, buildings and landscape. This area is filled with old towns, and barns that seem to have been left behind in the march toward urbanization. In my personal approach to photography I seek to photograph these places before they succumb to the ravages of time and neglect.

Wandering with the camera. Exploring the local area in search of fine art photography images. Today I visited the small town down the road, Gravette, AR and then drove a short loop that took me through the corner of MO and back through OK. There are some very interesting houses along the way and it started me thinking about the places we live in. I think I will start a project on this idea.

Today is the first day I have not pushed the shutter release on my camera in several weeks, will have to get out tomorrow and wander with the camera... So this evening, I was playing with photoshop and layers to get these three images onto one frame. Two of the images are from the iPhone 4 and the other is from a Canon 5d. Can you tell which is which?

I have been thinking about all of the cameras I own and have used in the past year, they range from a 35mm Nikon FE2, a Pentax 6x7, a Hasselblad 500c, Wista 4x5 and Chamonix 7x17 with the new addition of the Canon 5D mmII. I have been devoting all of my photographic time to the 5D to gain an appreciation for this method of capture. I have to admit that I miss the story telling quality of my film cameras. I think of film exposure, development and printing like reading a very good book, You do not know how it will end until the last chapter. In making digital images I just get out there and try not to over think the subject... I compose and push the shutter release. Here are todays several images from wandering with a digital camera...
Location:Fairbanks, Alaska
Bella Vista, AR, USA
I spent last night editing some digital images I made during a recent trip. The tree images are from a small state park south of Orlando. It is off of Rummell Rd. but I do not remember the name of the area. It was very quiet in the park and the work of John Sexton, Listen to the Trees, was on my mind as well as the beautiful work of Roman Loranc, Two Hearted Oak. Two extraordinary photographers who's work I greatly admire.

Todays short journey took me to a series of paved roads that were to be a subdivision, the road was put in several years ago and continues to sit empty. I will return there again to make some new images very soon. I think of the work of Robert Adams as I look through the view finder and compose the image. I very much enjoy his work and encourage you to view his work at a gallery in person or online. There is a video on Art21 by PBS that is very good as well.

Watching the presidential inauguration last night led me to view a photographers website that I have never seen before. Let me explain, Jennifer Hudson was singing and I was trying to remember some movies she was in so googled her name. On page one of the search I noticed a Jennifer B. Hudson fine art and had to click-it. This took me to the fine art photographer site of Jennifer B. Hudson, her work is very interesting and I highly recommend checking it out if you do not know the work. Her website is jenniferhudsonfineart.com.
Now onto todays wanderings with camera... Jumped into the car today and drove to Sulpher Springs, Arkansas. Here are a few images from along the road and in the small town.

Another day, another few images... Wandering with a camera can be such wonderful experience. One of best ways to improve your photography is to slow down and become more aware of the beauty that surrounds us. Most people miss photographs because they let life move at a too quick of pace. Slow down and enjoy life's wonders...

Explorations with the camera today I returned to the ghost house, at least that is what I call it, to make some new exposures as the sun was setting. Sometime making two exposures of the subject are better then one, by this I mean a two image pano that can be stitched together in photoshop. The first two images are made using this technique and it works very well. What do you think?
The image inside is a self portrait and an old barn door near by. The Garage image is from Main St Gravette, Arkansas and General Motors is in Decatur, Arkansas. I wanted to photograph the General Motors straight on but would have to stand in the middle of a busy road and chose not to dodge traffic.
