Images from yesterdays hiking in the White Sands National Park.  I spent the morning out in the dunes for the early light and then returned for the evening light, with the dunes alignment in the north south direction, I feel that the best time is the evening light.  The shadow direction works better.  One problem with the evening is the amount of foot traffic that has wandered the dunes, so I had to hike a little farther in, but it was worth it.  I recommend the northern most parking area, which gives access to the Alkali Trail and the northern most part of the dunes, it seemed that fewer people were walking in this part of the dunes.  The trail markers for Alkali Trail are easy to spot to hike back out or make sure you have a gps, it is easy to get turned around in the dunes and in the dark it can be very difficult to navigate your way out.  Today I'm off to Santa Fe New Mexico and visit the galleries there, Photo-eye Books and Gallery, Verve Gallery and try to meet up with some photographers there.
Happy trails.
